• I am delighted with the book. It is quite comprehensive, covering everything from the large view of clothing trends and trade down to specific garments and even appropriate sewing stitches. The photos are excellent, showing good, close details of extant fabrics as well as of sculptures and illuminations. The photos of modern recreations are also helpful. There are also patterns, an extensive bibliography, even a section on medieval metalworking techniques as they apply to making items for wear, such as belt mounts and brooches.This is a valuable resource for late 12th, 13th, and early 14th century clothing, and a must-have for the re-enactor. I would recommend this even if you don't read French -- the illustrations are that good.
